Vineyards
All the vineyards are situated around the property in one of the most suggestive and panoramic part of Montalcino, “poggio d’arna” on a hill covered of hundred-year woods. The vineyards have an exposure to south/south-east and an elevation of about 400 mt a.s.l., that allows a very good ripening of the grapes and an extraordinary range of intense and typical flavours.
The plants
The plants are pruned cordon, with a medium density of 4300 plants per hectar. The terrain is essentially a mixture composed by clay and a lot of stones and gravel inside itself. The age of our vineyards is about between 20 and 25 years old.
Extension
Today the farm Ventolaio has a size of about 14 hectares divided into 8 hectares for the production of Brunello di Montalcino, 2 for Rosso di Montalcino and 4 for sant’Antimo.
Around the vineyards are about 1700 olive trees from which by a cold-pressed we obtain extra virgin olive oil.
